Objective: Clean up the rest of the transitions for the extended cutscene

In the example below from “The Great Fleece”, we are continuing to build the beginning cutscene. The previous part smoothed out transitions as Darren crouched behind a display case in the Auction House, and the camera revealed the Auction House room. Now we want to finish the rest of the transitions for the cutscene.

Darren Under Dressed

In this part of the cutscene, we want to focus on Darren crouched behind a display case, with a close up shot and a farther away shot. See the Director Notes.

In Timeline, let’s fix the virtual camera transitions, and we can change the virtual camera positions to focus closer on Darren to better match the Director Notes.

Look At Guards

In this part of the cutscene, we want to animate the camera focus on the three guards patrolling.

We can check the camera position, and also add a noise effect with some mild camera shake.

Look At Security Cameras

In this part of the cutscene, we want to focus on the security cameras further in the Auction House.

We can add an Animation Track. Make sure the Animation Track is in the previously created Track Group folder. You can drag the Animation Track into the group folder if it’s not.

Now we can record a keyframe by tweaking the initial position and rotation, then move the Timeline marker and record the final position.

Sleeping Guard

In this part of the cutscene, we need to pan the camera to focus on the sleeping guard at the security desk, and focus in on his key card.

We can add a simple blend effect by dragging the virtual camera shot of the keycard into the previous virtual camera shot in Timeline.

Vault

In this part of the cutscene, we want to pan up to a shot of the vault door at the end of the Auction House. We can blend the previous shot of the key card, up to the vault door.

Thank you for your time!

The next part of this Journal series will cover the voiceover track, and final cleanup and polishing of the entire cutscene. Thanks!
