Journal 03 — Unity is Up, Now What?!

Does the layout make sense to you?

As you become more familiar with the tools and a particular workflow, you can customize the layout.

I’ve highlighted the different windows. Please refer to the Unity documentation for a detailed explanation.

Unity Interface (Default)

In the upper right corner there is a “Layout” dropdown menu with several preset layouts, and you can also customize your own and save it.

Unity Layout Options

I’ve created my own layout after going through some tutorials on GameDevHQ.

Unity customized layout

One other customization to consider has to do with the process of running your game. When you do, the Unity interface will tint a different color in order to make it clear you are in Playmode (changes to parameters made during Playmode will not save). You can customize this tint color to make it even more pronounced. You can set the colors by going to the Edit dropdown menu, and selecting “Preferences”. See a couple examples below of different color choices.

Unity (Playmode with another tint)

I appreciate you taking the time to stop by. I’m looking forward to share more information.
